Silence.

I have been taking pictures (seriously) for over five years now. I’ve explored all different types of styles, cameras and films. I began my career photographing bands and while I continue to do that I find I’m less and less inspired by that prospect. I’m at a point where I generally know what I like and what I want to shoot. And while I don’t want to pigeonhole myself into anything, for the next year or so I am going to focus on natural light editorial/fashion portraiture and my personal projects of shopping cart aisles, americana and the street that I live on in Seattle.
In addition to trying to further my photography eye I am establishing better business practices- branding, promotion, new site, etc. It will be the first time I’ve ever attempted to promote myself and do things “right.” I’ll be blogging about my process on the way- sharing my insights and tips for the design and marketing arenas.
I’m back! It’s been awhile- a long while! Life has been full with making music, artwork and of course, photography. I’ve been working hard on taking imagemaking to the next level- studying lighting, composition and (importantly) the business side of it all. I’m at a point in my career where I feel the need to establish some processes and start to hone in on finding my style, rather than bouncing back and forth between formats and genres. I’ll elaborate more later… In the meantime, I plan on using this blog as a venue to show my personal work and will use my main site as a more “commercial” outlet. I hope to launch that site mid-summer, though I’m more concerned about the quality and cohesiveness of the body of work than any sort of timeline.
Gabrielle and I had the opportunity to photograph producer/solo artist Brandon Bee for his upcoming album “Armored Savior.” The whole George Washington getup will make a lot more sense once the album artwork by Jordan Butcher comes out. Here’s one of the shots… I’ve gotta say, when Seattle isn’t raining, the natural light can be amazing.
